Swedish author Michael Johansson folds the piles of ordinary things that can be found in any apartment into monolithic sculptures or installations. Just look at a few of his works, and you understand: in everything that concerns accuracy and putting things in order, Michael simply has no equal.
Michael Johansson's work is unique and difficult to categorize. It remains only to look and wonder how the author manages to put together such perfect compositions from scattered and unrelated objects, how he manages to find a place for each thing so precisely. Literally everything that can be found in the apartment is used: books, dishes, furniture, suitcases, appliances … Very often Michael selects objects by color, so that the sculpture looks not like a motley pile of rubbish, but a model of order.
The author says that he loves to go to flea markets and buy various interesting things there. Probably, it is there that he finds most of the objects for creating his sculptures and installations.
Assessment of Johansson's work is rather ambiguous. Some viewers consider his work to be a waste of time. Others admire his ability to clean up and admit that the author's work inspired them … to take up cleaning in their apartment. Still others assume that Michael is with his talent! - must be an unrivaled master at playing Tetris and solving puzzles. At the same time, Johansson's works are popular in the creative environment: exhibitions of his works were held in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Croatia, and the future schedule is planned for a year ahead, including countries such as the USA and the Netherlands.
Michael Johansson was born in 1975 in the west of Sweden, in the city of Trollhättan. In 2005, he received a bachelor's degree from the Malmö Art Academy, after which he plunged headlong into creativity, the dominant theme of which was order.
