The Goodwood Festival of Speed, traditionally held in the UK, is a real treat for car enthusiasts. Thousands of people come here to get acquainted with historical models and novelties of leading car manufacturers, to witness the demonstration races of motorsport stars, as well as to gaze at the incredible sculptures from cars that are built from year to year. For thirteen years now, Jerry Judah has been surprising the audience with huge sculptures, an obligatory element of which is certainly one or more cars. During this time, he managed to create works with the participation of models of such giants of the auto industry as Ferrari, Porsche, Audi, Jaguar, Mercedes Benz, Renault, Ford, Rolls-Royce, Honda, Toyota, Land Rover and Alfa Romeo.
Cars for projects are provided to the author, of course, by the manufacturing companies themselves. However, this is where their role ends. “Naturally, they all want to get something exciting and increase their sales, but they do not take patronage over the sculptures and give me complete freedom, allowing me to create what I want,” - says Jerry Judah.
According to the author, he himself is interested in cars more from the point of view of an artist than a driver or a fan of high speeds. The appearance and shape of machines for a sculptor are much more important than their capabilities and technical characteristics. “Often, when talking to clients, I have no idea about the vehicles they are discussing,” says Jerry.
Jerry Judah was born in 1951 in Kolkata (India) and has been living in Great Britain since the age of ten. Sculpture is not the only hobby of the author, the second aspect of his creative activity is painting.
