25 year old princess mako is the granddaughter of the current Emperor of Japan, but after she fell in love with an ordinary guy, the girl had to choose - either to be with the man who won her heart, or to lose her title of princess. Mako opted for her feelings because, as she herself admits, she is crazy about his "radiant smile, shining like the sun."
Princess Mako announced the other day that on Sunday she will marry Kei Komuro, whom she met while at university.
In fact, although Mako is the eldest granddaughter of the current Emperor of Japan - His Majesty Akihito - according to the rules in force in this country, women cannot claim the throne. This means that by agreeing to marry Komuro, Mako will only lose his title and all the privileges associated with that title.
The chosen one of the princess is 25-year-old Kei Komuro, with whom they studied together at the university. As Mako admitted, they first met at a student party, which they had before leaving for students to study abroad. After that, Mako considered the guy "a sincere, confident, hardworking person with a huge heart."
During the year, the couple maintained a long distance relationship, while Princess Mako studied in the UK and Kei Komuro in the United States. The couple's relationship developed, and in 2013, the guy proposed to Mako. After that, the girl introduced her fiancé to her parents - Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko Kawashima - as a person with whom she wants to "share her life."
Just as Kei Komuro was worried before meeting his girlfriend's relatives, probably few people were worried, but later he confessed, but he was warmly received. For Mako herself, it was not easy to decide to change her life so radically. "I still have a bad idea of what it is like to create your own family. But I really hope that we can make our home cozy, comfortable, filled with joyful smiles," says Princess Mako.
The wedding will take place in 2018, and the details are still unknown. Rumor has it that the event will most likely take place next fall, as the wedding will be preceded by several special events.
The Japanese monarchy is the oldest continuous monarchy in the world. According to the official genealogy, the Akihito family has ruled for 2,700 years.
Mako's grandfather, 83-year-old Emperor Akihito, is about to hand over the throne to his eldest son, Crown Prince Naruhito. At the moment, Naruhito has only one child - a daughter, and she, like Mako, has no right to claim the throne. Next in line is Akihito's youngest son, Prince Akishino, father of Princess Mako. In addition to Mako, Akishino also has another daughter and son, Hirahito, who is the third in the line of succession to the imperial throne of Japan.
The fact that Mako's decision to marry a commoner was taken favorably may be due to the fact that the current emperor also took an ordinary girl of non-aristocratic blood as his wife. You can read about this story in our article " Emperor Akihito - Living God."
