This mom became a news hero last year when she prepared 87 gifts for each of her three children. Then this act caused a wave of indignation from other parents and the most frequent accusation was that she deliberately spoils, and thereby spoils her children. However, this year the same mother again became the object of gossip - this time she bought much more gifts.
Emma Tapping, 36, spent nearly $ 2,000 (£ 1,500) on gifts for her children last year. How long it took to prepare for Christmas this year is anyone's guess. 14-year-old Mia, 10-year-old Ella and baby Tatum will receive 96 gifts each on December 24, on Catholic Christmas. "What I love about Christmas is the feeling of magic," says Emma. "For me, this is family time, an opportunity to be with those I love and who love me, to see their faces when I give them presents."
"Of course I go overboard on Christmas, no doubt. Lots of gifts, lots of food, everyone gorge themselves and enjoying doing nothing. Great day. Every year my kids get about 85 gifts each. This year a little more, about 96 each." " Indeed, behind the gifts that Emma bought for her children, the tree itself is almost invisible - the tree is barely visible behind a huge mountain of wrapped boxes.
On December 6, Emma posted pictures of this mountain of gifts on her Facebook page, accompanied by the comment: “To be honest, I'm nervous with anticipation. I was so worried that I even ended up in the hospital, so I think I'll take Valium for Christmas. I can wait for my kids!"
Last year, Emma received a ton of angry comments under a photo of her Christmas tree. "My friend marked me in the photo and asked - is this your Christmas tree? I had no idea about anything at all, but in just a couple of days this photo was distributed on the Internet, it was shared by a hundred thousand people! And so I suddenly turned from an ordinary mother into a person who is written about in the newspapers, who is discussed at work, who is filmed on television."
"If you ask me if I spoil my children, then I will answer that yes - at Christmas I spoil them. However, this is completely different throughout the rest of the year. Children have everything they need, school uniforms, basic things, but we we don’t go abroad on vacations, we don’t go for large-scale purchases, they just get whatever they want only for Christmas. These gifts are a kind of justice for what they don’t get on other days."
"And now I don't care what others think. I'm not going to change the state of affairs, if someone doesn't like it, then okay - I'm not their mom." As Emma admitted last year, it is important for her that all three of her children receive the same number of gifts, even if it costs her a pretty penny. As a result, children receive so many gifts that it becomes a real problem where to store so many things. One of Emma's daughters still has several presents that have not been unpacked since last Christmas.
To buy whatever Emma has planned, she starts shopping back in the fall. Sometimes she takes an empty suitcase with her on a trip, because she knows that she will bring back souvenirs for her children. “I take a certain amount of cash with me and spend it until it runs out. So I limit myself. For Emma's boyfriend, Christmas is not the easiest period. According to him, packing all these gifts is about the same as moving to a new place.

X-ray gifts. X-rays of Christmas presents by Hugh Turvey
Christmas (and in our latitudes - New Year's) gifts for people are always a surprise, always desired, but forbidden, for the time being, fruit. But children, the most impatient creatures, are extremely curious to know what awaits them under the tree, right here and right now. British artist Hugh Turvey, already known to us for his X-ray project, for which he illuminated flowers and other plants with rays, peeped into gift boxes in the same way. The project was named X-rays of Christmas
