On April 26, 1986, 4 reactors exploded at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine. Behind these dry words are hidden thousands of torn human lives, ruined destinies, abandoned houses in a hurry. The city of Pripyat, where the disaster occurred, was comparatively old. It was rebuilt in 1970 especially for the workers of the nuclear power plant. Therefore, among the victims of the explosion were mainly young families. Today we will show graffiti against the backdrop of an abandoned city, which very clearly characterize the atmosphere in Pripyat even after so many years.
By the way, few people know about this, but Belarus suffered the most from the explosion. It was she who received 70% of the total infection. And this is a lot, especially considering the fact that the Chernobyl explosion was awarded the 7th (maximum permissible) hazard level. For comparison, we can mention Hiroshima, on which 400 times less radioactive substances were dropped. However, the authorities were slow to sound the alarm. The evacuation of residents began only the day after the explosion. In total, 47,500 residents of Pripyat were taken out. People were told that this is a temporary precaution, and they leave their homes for only three days. As a result, the population left almost empty-handed.
About a month later, part of the city's residents returned back, rightly believing that they had already received their dose of radiation, and accordingly, there was nothing to be afraid of. The unauthorized settlement of people was called the Exclusion Zone. Even relatives of self-settlers were not allowed there for 20 years, and the population was strictly forbidden to give birth. Admittedly, people listened to the ban. But in August 1999, a small force majeure occurred in the Exclusion Zone. 46-year-old Lydia Sevenko gave birth to a daughter, Maria. The authorities were shocked and tried to hold the newly minted mother accountable. But since the girl was born in a rather troubled time, the family was soon left alone, and the case itself began to be considered the revival of the Chernobyl zone.
The officially infected part was opened to the public in 2001. Tourists and so-called stalkers flowed like a river to Pripyat. They say that Chernobyl is considered the most exotic destination for tourism. However, with each passing day, such visits are becoming more dangerous. The fact is that 97% of all radioactive substances emitted during the explosion were buried in the sarcophagus, which has been actively destroyed lately. On the concrete screed there are cracks in a fist thick.
The construction of a new sarcophagus requires $ 2 million, which Ukraine does not have. So it is not ruled out that radioactive substances will be released into the atmosphere again (in case the sarcophagus is completely destroyed). In the meantime, the country is looking for the missing funds, it remains only to pray. Fortunately, there are a number of icons dedicated to the Chernobyl disaster.
