Alejandra Laviada, a 28-year-old artist and photographer from Mexico, works and creates her photographic sculptures not in a cozy and bright studio, but in empty houses, abandoned factories that are subject to demolition.

The Mexican woman finds old crumbling buildings full of all sorts of junk and creates her sculptures out of it, then capturing this wondrous and insane installation on camera. Photographs of Alejandra Laviada are bright and luminous prints of a huge size. Her works are unique in their simplicity and resourcefulness, and will not leave anyone indifferent, some will like her, some will not, but everyone will consider them with interest.

The artist's photographs are skillfully executed large-format bright prints, they consist of elegant sculptural installations created on the spot from the most common objects that the artist finds in dilapidated houses and dilapidated buildings in Mexico City. For her installations, Alejandra Laviada uses such earthly materials as empty paint cans, old wheels, brooms, broken chairs. According to Laviada, in her work, she "explores the fluid connection between photography and sculpture, while ordinary objects lose their traditional functionality and are perceived differently." Her works merge the boundaries between the past and the future, traditional, classical and modern.

Alejandra Laviada was born in Mexico City in 1980. She began her career as an artist, graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2003. She soon turned her full attention to photography, graduating from the School of Fine Arts in New York.

The photographs of the young Mexican woman have been featured in prominent magazines such as New York Times Magazine, American Photo, and VOGUE.
