Elodie from Paris changed her specialization a couple of years ago. She now paints portraits and stylish fashion illustrations and collaborates with the French Cosmopolitan. Perhaps it was the capital of world fashion that inspired the former cartoonist to create art drawings? Or, conversely, does a fascinating city attract people already infected with an acute viral disease that is transmitted through eye contact with haute couture items?
Elodie says she can't remember herself without a pencil. So even as a child, she definitely decided on her future profession. But when the little artist told her parents that she dreamed of devoting her life to the fine arts, they replied that this was not real work. The profession of a cartoonist seemed to the "more real" girl, and after leaving school she began to learn the art of animating pictures.
The artist Elodie studied fine arts in the city of Bordeaux. The local university graduated with a Diploma in Graphics, Illustration and Animation almost 6 years ago. After that, there were three years of work in animation. Then Elodie went to freelance, because her real passion has always been art drawings on the topic of female beauty and fashion.
Over the past few years, Elodie has managed to visit the USA, Canada with personal exhibitions and, of course, travel around France. The artist is interested in the 60s: fashion, painting technique, style of the era. Elodie draws pictures by hand: with pencils or watercolors, and then slightly processes the image on a computer.
Each art drawing by Elodie begins with an image of the eyes. If the artist manages to catch their expression and fix the gaze, you can safely continue: success is guaranteed. If the glance slips away, you have to start over: who can be attracted by a portrait with glass eyes?
The artist is inspired by photo sessions for glossy magazines. Looking at fashion photographs, Elodie reflects on the images of women created on them. Sometimes she is attracted by the look, gesture or posture of the model. The artist saves the picture she likes, and then, working on the next drawings, she will certainly look into the treasured folder.
Elodie dreams of working with a fashion house, cosmetics brand or clothing store. She would like her creations to decorate the walls and shop windows, creating a special atmosphere. And the artist is also not averse to arranging a catalog in which, instead of ordinary photographs, there would be her art-drawings.
