What can banana peels be used for in contemporary art? Are yellow skins only good for comedy slip gags and deserve closer attention? Australian Jan Jill Park fundamentally disagrees. It turns out that you can draw on a banana peel, and in this case, a toothpick serves as a brush.
The most common fruit from the supermarket can become a work of art: we have already seen the banana ships of Jacob Dahlshtrap and the banana sculptures of Suu. Australian Jun Gil Park has come up with his own way to "make fun" of food. It only takes a toothpick and time.
The drawings on the banana peel are somewhat similar to old photographs, which still need to be developed to see the image. True, no powders are required for banana art: all the necessary chemicals are contained in the air.
The process of painting a banana skin is quite simple: the artist takes a toothpick and scratches the image on the skin. The harder he pushes, the darker the line will turn out when the picture is oxidized. After 5 minutes, you can see what the artist painted, but after a day or two, the banana skin darkens and looks like an overexposed photograph.
How did Jan Jill Park come up with banana art? Very simple. It was evening, there was nothing. The future banana master talked with his family and gnawed a toothpick, and when a banana turned up under his arm, he began to scratch all sorts of nonsense on the peel and watched the drawing gradually darken.
The next time, Jan Jill Park decided to paint something more meaningful on a banana - and he did well. The only pity is that the drawings on the banana peel only live for a couple of days.
