Do you like movies Tim Burton? Such as Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. If so, then you can easily guess who is the main and constant muse of the Belgian artist named Toon hertz … And if not, then do not miss your chance to get acquainted with both the films of the famous director and this series of drawings made in a gloomy but rather glamorous style. The author calls himself that - a dark designer. But it cannot be said that in his drawings he glorifies darkness, worships the afterlife, admires death and darkness. On the contrary, the girls and boys featured in these drawings are not evil at all, but very cute and thoughtful. Even somewhat romantic and glamorous. It's just that they have such a karma, to be where it is dark and empty, and instead of butterflies - bats …
By the way, besides Burton's inspiration, there is also something from "Alice in Wonderland" in Toon Hertz's work. To be more precise, the author's style is somewhat reminiscent of the famous computer game "Alice McGee". A gloomy but sweet girl with huge eyes, thin arms and legs, in a charming dress and hair fluttering in the wind. Stands alone, in the middle of a cemetery, or on the threshold of an abandoned house, or in a dark dusty room at the door, behind which opens a passage to the labyrinth … Just a maniac's dream! Cartoon, of course.
The original style of Toon Hertz, and its unchanging characters such as ghosts and bats, gothic girls and boys, night and crows, gnarled trees and abandoned castles, do not allow these works to be confused with outsiders. And like Tim Burton and Alice McGee, this artist has a huge following. There's also a Deviantart website for the sequel to this dark but cute series of drawings.

Dark art. "Dark Art" by illustrator Erlend Mork
Norwegian artist, photographer, illustrator Erlend Mork is a master of frankly gloomy, if not suicidal paintings.
