A very unusual way to paint the walls of houses and fences, telephone booths and bus stops was invented by a French artist Mademoiselle Maurice … Her street art is not spray-painted graffiti or large-scale homemade applique work. Mademoiselle Maurice creates unusual installations from multi-colored origami … This 28-year-old artist developed a love for origami when she lived and worked in Japan for a year. There she learned to fold large and small figures from pieces of paper, and given her long-standing weakness for non-standard art, namely street art in all its forms, it is not surprising that soon Mademoiselle Maurice figured out how to bring origami to the streets of her native Paris.
One fine day, the walls of Paris were covered with colorful, vibrant flowers that suddenly blossomed on the concrete or brick surface of city buildings. This was the start of an art project by a French artist, which is a multi-colored geometric installation patterns formed from many small origami figures. Mademoiselle Maurice composes her "graffiti" so as to get a smooth gradient of bright colors, so from a distance it is not immediately clear what exactly is flaming on a wall or a fence. Curious passers-by strive to take a closer look at the unusual object, and when they see that it is a pattern of dozens or even hundreds of tiny paper figures, they involuntarily begin to smile. This means that the artist coped with the task of giving positive, kindness and smiles with her creativity.
Not so long ago, rainbow origami installations adorned buildings in Hong Kong and Vietnam, where Mademoiselle Maurice was on a working trip. You can see how the streets of these cities have changed on the website of the French artist.
