Human organs have always inspired artists and designers to create original and rather unusual masterpieces. Some of them were used simply as beautiful exhibits of the exhibition, with the help of the rest it was possible to study anatomy, examining one or another part of the body with one's own eyes. I must admit that human organs made of glass look much better than a real skeleton, which some biology laboratories are so proud of. At least that's the opinion of designer Sigga Heimis, who creates giant colored glass organs.
GlassLab helped the designer to create the collection, and the Designgalleriet exhibition in Stockholm (Sweden) helped to demonstrate the finished work. The exhibition took place from October 30 to November 15, 2013 and brought together a lot of people who are not indifferent to art. Visitors especially liked the giant glass eyes, hearts, lungs and transparent human brain.
The purpose of the collection was to draw public attention to the problem of organ donation. The designer, who personally faced this issue, was amazed by the fact that medical centers make a lot of money on the problem of human health, while help to a person should be, if not free, then at least available to everyone.
As a result of the author's experiences, they got their output in a unique collection, where hot glass was transformed into a human lung, eyes, kidneys and liver. Of course, glass kidneys are unlikely to help a person in an accident, but they can easily attract the attention of others to organ donation. By the way, photographer Erik Ravelo tried to solve a similar problem with the help of art in his project "Childhood Fears".
