Exhibition of contemporary art in Moscow opened at the Manezh

On July 31, the Central Manege hosted the opening of an exhibition of contemporary art in Moscow. This exhibition features over 50 film projects, video art, theater, music and art projects.

Alexander Kibovsky, head of the department of culture, said that in the past, during the Soviet Union, the Academy of Arts organized shows at the Manege, in which works of art created over the past two or three years were shown. Such events were considered very important, as they made it possible to understand what changes were taking place in the art community.

For a long time, such reviews have not been held. The idea of reviving such an exhibition came from young Moscow artists who decided not to be silent about it, but shared their desire with Sergei Sobyanin, the mayor of Moscow. Alexander Kibovsky noted that neither the city authorities, nor any other officials have any influence on this exhibition. The city authorities simply helped with the organization of the event, all other issues were dealt with by the artists themselves.

One of the exhibits of contemporary art is exhibited at the entrance to the Manege. It was created by the Recycle Group. Its peculiarity lies in the use of additional reality, and therefore it will be possible to fully understand the authors' idea only by using a special mobile application that was created by the same specialists.

The exhibits of this exhibition occupied two floors - the first and minus the first. They decided to use the minus floor for showing musical improvisations, theatrical performances, master classes, lectures and film screenings. The first floor is used to showcase installations, interactive objects, multimedia works and performances.

Katya Bochar, the author of the concept of the exhibition and its curator, said that each guest is recommended to use the audio guide or the newspaper of the project, so that by the number of the object one can get acquainted with its description. You can download a special program on your smartphone, with the help of which it is convenient to track the events of the exhibition area. She also said that among the exhibits you can see art in the hospital for children, a gallery in the entrance and other unusual objects. Such exhibits are designed to tell that contemporary art is becoming a means of communication between people, ceases to be an object.

The entrance to the Manezh exhibition of contemporary art is free. Its closure is scheduled for August 20.
