In 1984, a musical fairy tale film "Pippi Longstocking" was released, which has become one of the most beloved for many generations of children. He brought all-Union popularity to the young actress Svetlana Stupak, who played the main role, but soon after her triumph she disappeared from the screens. What funny things happened during the filming, and what the actress is doing now, for whom the role of Pippi has become the only starring role - further in the review.
The book of the cult Swedish children's writer Astrid Lindgren was born in 1945 thanks to her daughter - when Karin fell ill with pneumonia, her mother, in order to somehow distract her and alleviate her condition, told her stories about the girl Pippi - such a name was invented by Karin. In the Russian translation, this name was changed so that it did not sound ambiguous, and we know this heroine as Peppy. Later, the writer admitted that she had endowed the heroine with many of her character traits - as a child, she herself was the same restless and energetic inventor.
The Soviet film Pippi Longstocking, directed by Margarita Mikaelyan in 1984, was the second adaptation of Astrid Lindrgen's book. The first was created back in 1968 in Sweden, and abroad it is considered a classic - the image created by Inger Nilsson was close to the book Pippi, and the plot almost did not diverge from the original. However, in the USSR, this film did not find recognition among the audience.
The Soviet version was filmed, rather, based on the works of Lindgren - there were many deviations from the original plot in the script, and the image of the main character was noticeably different from her literary prototype - the girl was blonde, not red-haired, and besides, she looked older than the book Peppy. It was for these reasons that the candidacy of Svetlana Stupak was initially rejected - at the age of 13, she did not fit the role of a 9-year-old mischief in any way. But when, during the auditions, she was asked to imagine herself as the daughter of the leader of an African tribe and behave in a relaxed manner, it suddenly turned out that, despite the differences in appearance, she had the most important thing - that indomitable energy, enthusiasm and mischief that a real Peppy should have. So Svetlana got her first film role.
In her favor was the fact that from childhood she was engaged in acrobatics, dreaming of performing in a circus, and could perform complex tricks without an understudy. She was not admitted to the circus school because of the curvature of the spine, but she was admitted to the circus studio at the House of Culture in Moscow. There she was noticed by the assistant director. Later Svetlana Stupak recalled: "". Soon, this became a problem not only for her parents, but for the entire film crew - she was as indomitable and uncontrollable as her heroine, which gave the director a lot of trouble. Once the shooting had to be canceled due to the fact that the girl, without warning anyone, went to an abandoned orchard to pick apples and returned from there a few hours later with scratched knees and disheveled hair. Another time she came with a swollen nose, as the day before she had a fight in the yard with the boys.
Curiosities happened not only with the eccentric main character, but also with other actors. Mikhail Boyarsky played Pippi's father. According to the plot, he and the hero of Lev Durov had to throw themselves into the sea to save the main character from death. And the shooting took place in Tallinn in late autumn. Boyarsky said: "".
Young Fyodor Stukov, known for his role as Tom Sawyer, also brought a lot of problems to the director. This time he got the role of Tommy, but shortly before filming began, he fell while playing football with the boys in the yard and broke his arm. Later, the actor said: "". After that, there really was a long pause in his film career, during which Fyodor Stukov graduated from the Shchukin School, became a TV presenter and director of serials and reality shows. In the early 2000s, he reappeared on screens in several films.
But Svetlana Stupak, who played the role of Pippi, soon disappeared from the screens forever. In 1984-1985. she starred in two more films, and this was the end of her film career. In the era of perestroika, a completely different movie began to be shot, and the roles that were offered to her did not suit her - the girl did not want to play the wives of bandits and prostitutes. She had a chance to change several professions - she worked as a restaurant manager, waitress, secretary and salesman. Now Svetlana lives in Moscow with her daughter Lisa and leads a non-public lifestyle. Interestingly, Inger Nilsson, who played Pippi in the Swedish film, also subsequently did not pursue an acting career and became a secretary.
Another popular children's film became fateful for young actors: "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn" 37 years later.
