On August 10, the remarkable Russian actor Andrei Krasko could have turned 63, but 14 years ago his life was cut short on the set of the film "Liquidation". His path in the profession was not easy, and he played all of his most notable roles in adulthood. Even episodes performed by him turned into small masterpieces. One of these works was the film "Turkish Gambit", which premiered 15 years ago. Only recently were the secrets revealed, which remained behind the scenes of this film for a long time …

This film was based on the novel of the same name by Boris Akunin, which tells about the course of the Russian-Turkish war and the adventures of Erast Fandorin, the main character of a series of historical detective stories. The director of the film was Janik Fayziev, who by that time had shot the project Old Songs about the Main Things-2, 2 seasons of the Stop on Demand TV series and the Fifth Corner TV series.

The film "Turkish Gambit" was not the first screen version of Boris Akunin's novels. Three years earlier, the film "Azazel" was released on the screens, where Janik Fayziev acted as a producer. The role of Erast Fandorin was played by Ilya Noskov. Yegor Beroev, who got the image of the same character in the "Turkish Gambit", then also passed tests, but was not approved. In the same 2005, another film about the adventures of this hero was released - "The State Councilor", where Oleg Menshikov tried on the image of Erast Fandorin.

The fact that the same character in the movie was played by different actors in a short time interval, of course, created some confusion. But there was a certain logic in this: Ilya Noskov appeared in this image at the age of 26, Yegor Beroev at the age of 28, Oleg Menshikov at the age of 43. Director Janik Fayziev said about this: "".

While working on the film, the director collaborated with the author of the novel. Akunin did not object to the fact that the film version of "Turkish Gambit" was not an exact adaptation of his book, but created "based on" the novel. Although the writer did not participate in the selection and approval of the actors, the final decision was made after his approval of all the candidates. It so happened that the writer indirectly took part in the filming of the film long before their start. Some time ago, Akunin filmed the ancient Bulgarian cities where the battles of the Russian-Turkish war took place and where the events of his novel took place. Having started filming the film, Janik Fayziev asked the writer for these films, and as a result, the action of the "Turkish Gambit" took place among the "scenery" chosen by Akunin himself.

Yegor Beroev, who had long dreamed of the role of Erast Fandorin, was very glad that he finally got what he wanted. By that time, his film career lasted only 4 years, but during this time he had already managed to play a large number of leading roles and become a fairly famous actor. But loud popularity came to him only after the release of "Turkish Gambit".

On the set, Yegor Beroev refused an understudy and performed all the stunts on his own, although they were quite dangerous. Later, the actor said: "".

Before filming, Yegor Beroev learned to ride without a saddle in the police cavalry regiment, and in all the episodes with horseback riding he also filmed himself, without understudies. The actor even learned to ride a circus unicycle, although this scene from the film was cut out during editing for some reason.

The main female role - Varvara Suvorova - was played by a young actress Olga Krasko. 3 years before that, she graduated from the Moscow Art Theater School and made her film debut. This work became one of her first striking leading roles and glorified her throughout the country. Unexpected popularity scared the actress. She confessed: "".

But shooting in "Turkish Gambit" became fateful for her, not only professionally. Even after the premiere of the film, there were rumors about the secret affair of the actress with director Janik Fayziev. He was married at that time, and none of them commented on this fact, so for a long time everyone could only make assumptions. And only recently Olga Krasko gave an interview in which she admitted that at that time she really had an affair with the director. And although he did not end in marriage, he made them family forever, because the actress gave birth to a daughter from Fayziev.

Olga Krasko said that their romance began during the filming of "Turkish Gambit". At first, she perceived their relationship exclusively as professional, but soon she noticed sympathy from the director and realized that she felt the same feelings. But later she herself decided to end this relationship. The actress admits: "".

Later, Janik Fayziev still left his wife for another actress - Svetlana Ivanova, with whom she is now raising two children. Olga Krasko also found her personal happiness in marriage with entrepreneur Vadim Petrov. She managed to maintain good relations with the father of her daughter Olesya, and she still speaks of him with special warmth: "".
