He already knew in his school years that he would become a composer. It is unlikely that Igor Kornelyuk imagined at that time how great his popularity would be, but he simply could not imagine life without music. In the 1980s, the whole country sang Igor Kornelyuk's songs with him, his music sounded in popular films and TV shows. The composer had many admirers, but his student love, his Marina, has always remained his wife. True, today Igor Kornelyuk admits: there were actions in his youth that he is ashamed of.

Only love

While studying at the music school at the Leningrad Conservatory, Igor Kornelyuk met Marina, a student of the conductor and choral department. The girl herself approached him and said that they needed to talk. What this conversation was supposed to be about, the future star composer never found out. Because both were swirling in a whirlpool of feelings literally from the very first minutes of their acquaintance.

For two years the young people met, but when Igor proposed to Marina, the relatives of the bride and groom were, to put it mildly, in shock. They persuaded both to postpone the wedding, not to rush to the registry office. They were only 19 years old, and early marriages, as you know, are rarely durable. But then Kornelyuk managed to insist on his own, and the wedding still took place. At the same time, Igor Kornelyuk paid for the celebration on his own, it seemed to him wrong to ask his parents for money, if he himself decided to start a family.

In the summer of 1982, Igor Kornelyuk named Marina his wife. Parents, friends and classmates were invited to the restaurant, everyone had fun, took part in competitions with pleasure, and the newlywed dreamed of an early end to the celebration, he was so tired and hungry, because during the feast he did not even have the opportunity to eat properly.

After the wedding, he entered the conservatory, and the newlyweds settled at first in a small room where Marina's mother lived with her spouses. Soon their son Anton was born. At that time, young parents only dreamed of peace. Igor Kornelyuk almost did not sleep at night, and during the day he could fall asleep right in the subway or in pairs at the conservatory.

Naturally, a scholarship of 40 rubles was not enough for anything, and Igor Kornelyuk moonlighted by singing at weddings and in restaurants, and also borrowed money to record songs. A few years later, the couple rented an apartment, and later acquired their own living space. Today they have a luxurious house in the village of Tarkhovka in the Leningrad Region.

For almost 40 years Igor and Marina Kornelyuk have been walking hand in hand through life. But the composer himself admits: the secret of the longevity of their marriage lies in the wisdom and patience of his wife.

Errors of youth

When Igor Kornelyuk became popular, he almost stopped being at home. Constant concerts, tours, recordings left less and less time for communication with the family. It cannot be said that he had a hard time suffering from "star fever", but, of course, he could not resist some temptations.

It is clear that during long tours he was tired, he wanted to rest and relax, and therefore, in his free time from rehearsals and concerts, alcohol flowed like a river, and in the hotel he was surrounded not only by colleagues, but also by fans. He was fond of, fell in love and yes, there were betrayals in his life.

The craving for new impressions and emotions seemed quite natural at that time, and the weakness for beautiful women was not so terrible. Moreover, in fact, there were much more rumors about his novels than actual betrayals.

Fortunately, Marina at that difficult time for her did not burn all the bridges, arrange jealousy scenes for her wife, throw tantrums and threaten with divorce. She patiently waited for the day when Igor Kornelyuk realizes who is his friend and who is only a friend. The family has always been important to her, and she understood: it is much easier to destroy it than to try to revive the relationship and save the marriage.

Of course, such a time has come. And today Igor Kornelyuk realizes how blinded he was by fame and the pursuit of momentary pleasures. He is ashamed of some of his novels and hobbies today. The composer even asked his confessor for advice to help him solve the problem.

Today Igor Kornelyuk admits: the decision made in his youth to marry Marina was the most faithful in his life. Marina Kornelyuk was able to wisely wait out the time of her husband's hobbies, and now they are happy together again. In 2000, Marina became the concert director of her husband, and since then they practically do not part, work and rest together, go on tour and travel.

Igor Kornelyuk has no idea how he could live without Marina if they parted due to his stupidity. The couple raised a wonderful son, Anton, who categorically refused to study music, he was always much more attracted to computer technology.

Igor Kornelyuk calls Marina his strong rear, his reward and the main support in life. Today he looks at his wife with the same tenderness as 40 years ago, when he, a student of a music school, ventured to tell her the cherished words: "Marry me!"

Igor Kornelyuk wrote the music for the TV series "Gangster Petersburg", and his song "The City That Doesn't exist" became a real hit that does not lose popularity to this day. The actors who played in the series are reluctant to talk about filming, and behind the tape itself notoriety took hold.
