Self-taught artist Karen Watson has always loved children's literature and recently decided to get serious about book illustrations. She began by asking numerous acquaintances what stories they liked at a young age. Choosing the most popular, Karen Watson drew 15 illustrations and arranged an exhibition. Drawings for children's books remind of a semi-legendary time when we were just learning to read.

Children's artist Karen Watson loves to paint with watercolors, but has done several illustrations for books in oils, demonstrating the full range of her skills. The exhibition of drawings by several authors, which included the work of Karen Watson, was called "Draw from Words" (and indeed, all the illustrations presented were generated by words).

In order to fully devote herself to the art of illustration, Karen Watson quit her job (she previously worked in visual effects in film and television). Now she accepts orders for graphic design, production of flyers, business cards and other invitations. At the previous place of work there was a good team, a creative atmosphere, high salaries. But the desire to draw illustrations for books, from which children will learn to read, turned out to be stronger.

For the exhibition at the Writers rally, Karen Watson decided to illustrate books that are not subject to copyright. So among her works there were drawings for "Alice in Wonderland", "The Princess and the Pea", "The Wizard of Oz", "The Wind in the Willows" and other wonderful books. The talented artist spent six months to create a series of 15 drawings.
