The work of a Korean artist Ran Hwang defies an unambiguous description. It cannot be briefly described as an installation, sculpture or street art - it is a combination of thousands of different components, where pins, beads, beads, buttons and thin wire are the main ones. Once we have already written about the installations of this artist, and today we will talk about a new round of her work. The artist says that the scale of the work makes her spend many hours a day at the "canvas", which is a wall or any other even and smooth surface. And at such moments, she feels like a Buddhist monk who comprehends Zen. It takes many hours to perform methodical and monotonous actions, sticking pins and buttons into the wall, which requires incredible self-control, patience and humility. This is probably how Buddhist monks are taught humility in monasteries.
Ran Hwan's new Zen installations will be on display at Leila Heller's Art Southampton starting July 26th. The highlight of this exhibition will be a 27-meter work called Healing Blossoms, which occupies seven separate panels combined into one large canvas. The cherry blossom image is made of paper buttons, beads and sequins, as well as other materials that the artist likes to use in her work.

Installations of buttons and pins. Creative work by Ran Hwang
A sane person will never buy buttons in kilograms, by weight, unless, of course, they are going to marinate them with tomatoes. But a designer and an artist is easy. This is how Ran Hwang from Seoul usually does when he prepares another stunning installation
Copies of famous paintings made of wood and newsprint. Custom "painting" by artist Kyu-Hak Lee
In search of inspiration, artists, sculptors and other people of art often turn to the creative heritage of famous maestros, absorbing their muse, mood, and lyrics. As a result, we talk about the strong influence of one or another master on the work of a modern author, and sometimes we can see with our own eyes what kind of master this author took as his teacher. These are imitations of famous masterpieces such as the Mona Lisa, which has gone through dozens of parodies and recreations. A portfolio
Pictures with installation elements. Oriental painting by Kim Yong Soo
If you knew the Korean language, if you could understand these hieroglyphic squiggles, you could find out where the South Korean artist Kim Yong Soo was born and studied, the author of amazing paintings with installation elements that resemble magical Japanese watercolors. But they remind me only in style, since Kim Young Soo draws not at all with watercolors, and not at all on rice paper, and not at all on paper … And all this is extremely curious
