She was a real aerial gymnast, and with the same ease as she flew under the circus dome, she went through life, rejoicing at the opportunity to enjoy every moment of her youth. Lyudmila Kolesnikova's meeting with Oleg Menshikov seemed to be part of a happy fairy tale destined for her. They were undoubtedly happy, and then … then the miracles ended …

Taming love

Lyudmila Kolesnikova was only 19 years old, but while she was still studying at the circus school, she began working in the Circus on Vernadsky Street and felt completely adult and independent at the same time. She had a favorite job, caring parents, complete financial independence and even a very wealthy groom. She gladly flew with him on walks to Paris, accepted courtship and was sure: it was going to the wedding. But then, at a housewarming at the circus choreographer, she first saw Oleg Menshikov.

However, he saw her at a party not for the first time and even asked a friend (the same choreographer) himself to introduce him by chance to a fragile gymnast. For the sake of meeting Oleg and Lyudmila, the very event with the celebration of housewarming was arranged.

Lyudmila did not feel any trepidation before the actor, however, she simply did not know who Oleg Menshikov was, she could not even remember films with his participation. But it was precisely the lack of admiration on the part of the girl that the famous actor liked. But she herself did not attach any importance to this acquaintance.

However, the choreographer did not let her forget about Menshikov, he constantly conveyed greetings, talked about him. And once he called and said: the actor invites her to his performance. And Lyudmila, not even knowing why, chose a trip to the theater, and not a date with her fiancé.

After the performance, she went to the actor's dressing room and suddenly he seemed incredibly warm and familiar to her. Perhaps because he did not ask her about the performance, but immediately showed a keen interest in her affairs. After that there was a dinner with friends in a restaurant, great fun and a walk in a big company almost until the morning.

Oleg Menshikov gradually accustomed the girl to himself: he called or came every day. When he had to leave for a few days, Lyudmila realized how much she missed his presence. Thoughts about Oleg did not let her go for a minute.

When he flew in from a business trip, the girl first came to visit the actor. And she stayed there for a long time …

Short long tale

The very next morning, Oleg Menshikov took out two rings, one of which he put on Lyudmila's finger, the other for himself. These were significant rings for the actor, inherited by him. Then he said that they would be together forever. And Lyudmila believed that their tale was just beginning.

They planned how they would happily spend their entire lives, came up with names for their future children and desperately dreamed of holding each other's hands until their last breath. True, Lyudmila was in no hurry to introduce her beloved to her parents, all the time she found some excuses. But she was familiar with Oleg's parents, she talked warmly with his dad, felt how jealous the son's mother was of a new passion.

However, the girl also treated this with understanding and never worried about the cool relationship with Elena Innokentievna. It was enough for her that Oleg loved her. Their life together was like a fairy tale: no quarrels and misunderstandings. And even the difference in age they very soon ceased to feel. Menshikov remained in his heart the very same Kostik from the "Pokrovskie gates", in love, open, very sincere.

For a long time they hid their relationship, did not appear together in public, tried to spend their free time where there are no prying eyes and camera flashes. It seemed to the actor that the publicity would instantly destroy the harmony of their feelings. However, Lyudmila insisted on their first appearance at the Moscow Film Festival.

At the same time, Oleg Menshikov was very worried and asked not to pay attention to gossip in the press and, in general, all publications that would appear after their joint publication. As soon as they appeared together, the couple was surrounded by photographers and journalists, and the very next day a variety of comments appeared in fashion publications. When one of Lyudmila's acquaintances told reporters who she was, they began to wait for her at the house, the phone did not stop, and the press tried to get an interview from herself or her relatives.

Much later, Lyudmila Kolesnikova admitted that she very much regrets her decision to appear with Oleg in public. If they continued to hide their relationship, perhaps everything would have turned out differently. With the acquisition of the almost official status of the girl Oleg Menshikov, something very important has left their lives … It is not for nothing that they say: happiness loves silence.

Invented fairy tale

They continued to dream of their future even when they lived together. They invented their own fairy tale, inhabited it with heroes and believed that it would be an endless story of eternal love. And then together they ended up on the Cote d'Azur at the dacha of a friend Oleg. And there, one of the days, the whole invented fairy tale suddenly disappeared. At first, Menshikov began to disappear for a long time, explaining his absence by the desire to be alone. Then he changed a lot, began to be silent for a long time, as if they had lived together all their lives and they simply had nothing more to say to each other.

After one of Oleg's friends began to show signs of attention to Lyudmila, she decided to fly home. That night they quarreled and it seemed that their invented fairy tale melted away in an instant. In the morning she flew to Moscow.

They met for some time, quarreled and reconciled. Lyudmila Kolesnikova even entered VGIK to become an actress and at least try to understand the person she loved. However, the relationship between them became colder, they saw each other less and less, after the communication was reduced to telephone conversations.

And then Menshikov called and said: "I am getting married …" Their story ended, which never became endless.

Today the film "Pokrovskie Vorota", in which Oleg Menshikov starred, is called a classic of Soviet cinema and one of the best films of Mikhail Kozakov. And in those days, comedies predicted failure, the director was not given permission to shoot, and after the film was shot, it lay on the shelf for several years. Today it is difficult to understand the logic by which this wonderful comedy could seem ideologically harmful.
