- a phrase that almost everyone has heard. But the Dutch artist (Marius van Dokkum), holding a different opinion, thinks differently. Over the years, he has been creating funny pictures from the life of elderly people who, despite their grumpiness and grumpiness, enjoy a new day and event: from the usual eating buns and sweets over a cup of tea to some incredible madness, which would not even dare to dare young people.
Marius's paintings take the viewer into some distant past, but at the same time they are not divorced from modern reality, where the same people, events and situations that one has to face almost every day. And, it would seem, everything is too simple and ordinary, but the author's works stand out for their warmth and sincerity, where at first glance, behind the displeased pursed lips, there is a touching, affectionate and almost caring smile.
An evening with the family with jokes, jokes, a family cinema with a traditional packet of chips and talking with a friend on the phone, discussing the next episode of the series, a bike ride, which not everyone can master, but a thin man stubbornly pedals, diligently climbing the mountain with his companion, a bunch of evil old women, gathering in a flock, condemn their neighbor, who sniffs a modest wildflower with great pleasure, a modern artist, once again fantasizing about an idea for a painting, spent a couple of buckets of paint, feeling like a great abstractionist, and a couple of onlookers, Once at the exhibition, he thoughtfully studies high art, alas, not understandable to everyone. This is how life boils in the works of a talented artist, for whom age is not the limit and not a reason to postpone everything for later, referring to the years.
Leonid Baranov is another artist, for whom the topic of age is perceived as a reward, and in no way a litigation. He happily writes, whose faces glow with serene kindness and a sincere smile.
