Computers in the modern world are as important a part of our life as light, gas, water and electricity. Moreover, it is so important that even after the “death” of the unit, people are not ready to say goodbye to it forever, preferring to disassemble it into “organs” and then reuse them for other purposes. So, broken hard drives in the hands of masters turn into original sculptures, small details become unusual decorations, and motherboards, wires, coolers and microchips are distributed to the whole vast world. World Map, so called installation from microcircuits, created by a British artist Susan Stockwell … Susan Stockwell is a 100% artist, both by vocation and education. In the early 90s of the last century, she became a graduate of the famous Royal College of Art in London, and devoted herself entirely to creativity. Susan can be called a multi-tool artist or a jack of all trades. So, she paints pictures and makes collages, creates sculptures and installations, practices paper art, and this is not all of her creative talents. And here's what is curious: in one of her paper projects, the artist used world maps as a material for creativity. But in the installation of World Map, everything turned out differently - from the insides of the dead computers, a huge map turned out.

It took Susan about a year to create an installation out of microcircuits. This massive work took up an entire wall at the University of Bedfordshire, where the Susan Stockwell exhibition was held. The map was brought in pieces from the artist's workshop, and was assembled on the spot, like a puzzle. In addition to this installation, the author presented other works made from the remains of technology, but the "highlight of the program" was the World Map.

It should be expected that after the UK the installation will be seen in other countries, in particular, in the USA, Canada, China and Taiwan, where Susan Stockwell's exhibitions had already taken place. You can get acquainted with the work of the artist on her website.
