It is often said with irony about the work of this sculptor that he cajoles his clients. American Jim Victor, this very sculptor, is absolutely not offended, because there is some truth in this statement: the material for his sculptures is the real butter.
In order to keep the butter from melting, the sculptor's studio has to maintain a constant temperature of 13C. Jim argues that working with oil at this temperature is practically the same as sculpting sculptures out of clay. The time it takes to complete one piece depends on its size and complexity. At the same time, the author notes that large sculptures are much easier to make, because oil is a soft material from which it is not easy to create small details.
Jim Victor honestly admits that oil sculptures are far from what he dreamed of at the beginning of his creative career. He wanted to work with more traditional materials - wood or bronze, but such works could only interest art connoisseurs, while real money was paid for oil sculptures. So the author made his choice: he earns his living by embodying the requirements of customers in oil, and he makes wooden sculptures in his free time and for the soul.
The theme of most of Jim Victor's sculptures is quite consistent with the chosen material: these are scenes from life on a farm, pigs, sheep, cows … He also had to create sculptures of people, ships, cars, motorcycles - in a word, it all depends on the requirements of the customers.
It should also be noted that butter is not the only foodstuff that 63-year-old Jim works with. At the request of the customer, he can create a sculpture out of cheese or chocolate. A gallery of the author's works is presented on his website.
