Video: Light Waves by Paul Friedlander

Paul Friedlander creates dynamic light sculptures that sit somewhere between art and science. The author himself does not undertake to determine which particular area his work belongs to, and even considers such attempts to be meaningless. Instead, he calls himself a "scientific artist" and reassures that "artists and scientists actually have much more in common than people usually imagine."
“Once upon a time, artists were etched with paints and turpentine, and sculptors with marble and granite dust, but now all this can be left for the old masters. These days, there are completely different techniques and materials, among the variety of which I found my own: waves are what interests me more than anything else. Waves exist in our lives in a variety of forms: sea, sound, light, radio waves, and so on. But the waves I work with I invented myself while studying 3D design. Luminous, transparent, dynamic - these are not often found in our country,”Paul Friedlander tells about his light sculptures, not without pride.
All of Friedlander's light sculptures, as noted above, are based on his own invention, which the author gave the name "chromastrobic light". It was made more than 20 years ago, and its essence boils down to the fact that light changes colors faster than it can be seen with the naked eye, and from the outside everything looks like a rapidly moving and constantly changing wave.
Exhibitions of Paul Friedland's work have been held in twelve countries on three continents. Manchester and London, Warsaw and Madrid, Jerusalem and New York became witnesses of the appearance of light waves … You can see more of the author's works, as well as get more complete information about him on his website.
