Before the beginning of the Christian Great Lent, mass festivities are traditionally held in Germany. "Pink Monday" (Rosenmontag) is the most important of the carnival days, when everywhere is fun, joy, rich treats, fiery dances, and also … evil satire! We have already written that Germany is not indifferent to political cartoons. This year, several million people took to the streets in the cities of Cologne, Mainz and Dusseldorf, who did not miss the opportunity to laugh heartily at the most pressing political topics.

Where the name of the holiday came from is not entirely clear. Perhaps it is related to the verb "rasen", which means "to have fun", "to be happy." This version is quite plausible, since you will not be bored at this festival!

The palm, of course, belongs to German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Hinting at her close communication with French President Nicolas Sarkozy, the Germans "put" the politicians in the same boat, christening this "sweet couple" "Merkozy". At the carnival, Angela can also be seen hovering in a gigantic pink dress labeled "Emergency Parachute" and riding a twin bike with a Free Democratic Party skeleton. The Germans also spoke inappropriately about their former President Christian Wulf, presenting him in the guise of a cartoon eagle with the postscript: "Goodbye."

The Germans did not bypass the theme of the East: among the dolls one can also find the President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, in whose mouth, instead of a cigar, dynamite flaunts with the inscription "Nuclear program", and a huge green toad - "Islamization", which is catching up with a butterfly - "Arab spring ".
