We are used to the fact that there are four seasons in a year: spring, winter, summer, autumn. What else can you think of? But in Germany there is fifth season, which starts on November 11 at 11 o'clock and 11 minutes and lasts four months. It is called - Carnival time … One of the brightest, most crowded and interesting carnivals in Germany takes place in a glorious German city Cologne at the beginning of February.
The city of Cologne is known not only for the fact that cologne was invented there, but also for the fact that it is one of the largest and oldest (founded in 39 BC) cities in Germany. And the local tradition of plunging into carnival frenzy is also old and venerable. It all starts with the Cologne people choosing three people who will be the main figures of the carnival: Prince, Young (also "Virgo") and Bauer (farmer) - for the honor of being in the trinity of kings of the festival, every year people put a lot of money into the box office of the event.
The Prince's handsome position must not deceive us: his second title is "His Foolishness" (and Bauer - "His Health"). Nevertheless, it is he who is the real King of Fools, the lord of the jubilant crowd. True, if he takes it into his head to give any serious orders, the fooling Cologneers will immediately carry them out … foolishly … After all, the spirit of the carnival is the spirit of laughter, often even mocking.
At the carnival in Cologne, people dress up in the most incredible and insane costumes, play on each other rude german jokes (we will tell you about how they joke at this carnival next time), and tourists walk the streets, staring at this riot of colors. The solemn procession of the carnival participants, orchestras and huge sculptures continues until the evening, and then begins concert … There are plenty of good bands in Germany that can warm up any audience - even tired after a day of carnival madness.
Now the carnival in Cologne is not only a way to relieve social and psychological stress, but also a form in which the townspeople remember history and confess their love for their small homeland. The words that constantly sound from the lips of passers-by at this time are "Kölle Alaaf", which means approximately "Cologne above all!" … And the real "Kölsham" has something to be proud of: in combination with the beautiful Gothic architecture, which the city is famous for, the carnival looks especially picturesque.

First-borns, as a rule, are smarter and more talented than the next children in the family, scientists say.
