It's nice to know that the work of Salvador Dali is alive and well when you see the works of modern surrealist photographers … Among the best for today are the pictures of our compatriot. Alexandra Gnatenko.
Photographer Alexander Gnatenko now lives in Austria, he is known for his extraordinary work: unpretentious black-and-white photographs can leave few people indifferent. The cycle of his photographs is called “S. Real . This is a bizarre world full of optical illusions, not alien to absurdity and replete with all kinds of experiments with space.
It seems that Alexander Gnatenko invites the viewer to take part in some kind of game that does not obey the laws of logic and common sense. Fish heads instead of eyes, legs growing out of the floor - a complete illogism in everything. The photographer himself explains his attitude to the creative process in the following way: “In search of an answer to the question, what is reality, we are faced with many things. Some of these things are simple, some are old, some are new, there are attractive things, there are colored and monochrome, visible and invisible. However, the most important thing is that there are things with meaning, and there are things without. From this, the plots of surreal photographs are born."
As a reminder, we have already told the readers of Culturologiya. Ru about other surrealist photographers, in particular, Chem Madoz, Max Sauko and Jerry Welsman.
