American photographer Rob Woodcox is only 23 years old, however, despite his young age, Rob is already an accomplished photographer, and his work in the manner of "realistic surrealism" literally fascinates the audience.
Woodcox was born in Texas, raised in Michigan, and raised in a love of nature and creativity. Perhaps, it was thanks to this upbringing that Rob became involved in photography. Rob himself cannot say for sure what exactly prompted him to pick up the camera for the first time. “Like other nineteen-year-old students, I didn't know what I wanted out of life. I've always liked taking pictures for the school newspaper - so I thought I could try photography. Happened. Photography soon became my biggest passion,”says Woodcox.
Rob's surreal and slightly frightening photographs show the viewer an unfamiliar world full of secrets and mysteries. Woodcox himself describes his style as "realistic surrealism" - and, indeed, it is difficult to find a more appropriate definition. Inspired by fashion photography by photographer Tom Walker, Rob creates an intriguing visual storytelling that he brings to the viewer's judgment.
Despite his age, the photographer consciously approaches the business that he has chosen. “Everything I do in life should make sense, of course, this also applies to photography. Every photo is a story, I try to put something in every shot. Without that, my work would be just beautiful pictures,”admits Rob.
Another young photographer who has found his own style is the Indonesian Mikael Aldo. His surreal creations have been noted by critics more than once.
