The Rob Muris archive is notable for the fact that the main selection criterion for getting into it was the strangeness of the pictures, and of any nature. The photographer was called to digitize the large Dutch archive Spaarnestad, located on the outskirts of Amsterdam. Muris reshomed “digitally” analog works, of which there were millions in the archive, sometimes retouching and restoring them.

2. Igor Guzenko and Soulou Pettu
After working like this for several weeks, the invited specialist realized that something extraordinary had fallen into his hands. Having received permission from the management of the archive, Muris began to stay at the workplace much longer than expected.
3. Aircraft carrier Langley
As a result, the researcher saved up an impressive amount of unusual photos on his laptop and began to publish them on the Internet and specialized magazines, which attracted attention to his person. This was followed by exhibitions and publications, most importantly - a photo album, the title of which can be translated as “Life is a strange thing”.
4. Banquet for French soldiers
Muris emphasizes that he deliberately did not divide the photographs according to any criteria, be it theme, time and place of action. He wants each of the photographs in his archive to be not just a part of a series or a thematic collection, but to have an inherent individuality and self-worth in the photo.
5. The crowd watches the British airship
This effect is enhanced by the fact that most of the photographs in the archive belong to unknown masters, which does not allow the name of the master to overshadow the attractiveness of the photograph. Muris compares this situation to the works of the great artists of the past, of whom nothing remains but their paintings, their masterpieces and their vision of the world.
6. Marcia Pinkenfield
The photographs presented in this review are mostly drawn from real events. The main means of expression in these photographs is the reflection of people's lives.
7. Dutch armored vehicles
In such photography, as in a mirror, all the processes and events that take place in society are reflected. It makes it all the more interesting to look at these pictures and learn the stories behind them. Collected here are some of the best documentary photographers who take a different perspective on modern life.
