In no case should you believe your eyes! Everything needs to be checked and rechecked! Another proof of this hackneyed truth appeared recently on the street in front of the city hall of Paris. Illusion is one of the most popular techniques in contemporary art. Think of three-dimensional street graffiti by Julian Beever, an optical illusion the size of a four-story house by Neil Dawson, or the mysterious disappearance of the Skoda Fabia by Sara Watson. And recently, a huge illusion appeared on one of the Parisian streets right in front of the city hall of the capital of France. And it was created by the Belgian artist Francois Abelane.

An illusion installation titled "Qui Croire?" ("Whom to believe?"), As it were, once again warns us against trusting what we have seen without question, without subjecting it to even the slightest doubt.

This installation is a huge illusion, looking at which it seems to the viewer that the sidewalk, with the grass and trees growing on it, is not even, but spherical, similar to the globe of the planet Earth with parallels and meridians drawn on it.

Moreover, the size of this object is truly amazing! Its length is one hundred meters, and the area of the specially planted lawn is 1200 square meters! To create the illusion installation "Qui Croire?" ninety people under the leadership of François Abelane worked for five days.

“We live in a world where ecologists, scientists and industrialists are overly carried away by continuous discussions with each other, forgetting about the real purpose of these disputes - the problem of preserving the nature of planet Earth. With my work, I wanted to draw their attention to it again, to place our planet itself in the spotlight,”explains the meaning of his installation-illusion“Qui Croire?” Francois Abelane.
