The flowing gold of hair, the beauty of women's hairstyles, as well as the mystery inherent in every girl, the Japanese author tries to embody in his wooden sculptures Yasuhiro Sakurai … Sculptures depicting graceful female heads, he carves from cypress, leaving them unpainted to preserve their beautiful natural color, similar to molten gold. Yasuhiro Sakurai is one of those artists about whom little is known due to the lack of available information. The only thing that the Internet knows is the age and direction of the Japanese author's creative searches. Thus, the 42-year-old sculptor received a specialized education, receiving a master's degree at the University of Fine Arts and Music in Aichi Prefecture. His works have repeatedly taken part in competitions and exhibitions of contemporary art at the Five Rising Stars and Contemporary Art Fair events, museums in Taiwan and Tokyo, as well as art galleries and showrooms. And he depicts, as we already know, the heads of beautiful women with various hairstyles.
Frankly, such an exhibition will look scary. A spacious room, bright light, and on the walls are the heads of girls, girls and young women, mainly with long hair braided in braids and ponytails, twisted into intricate evening hairstyles, or with straight, loose, freely flowing golden waterfalls. Someone will draw parallels with horror films, in particular, the film "The Ring". Someone thinks of a mannequin from a hairdresser, with a wig worn on a bald head. And someone will think about the obsession and the corresponding diagnosis. But, alas, Yasuhiro Sakurai does not leave any explanations for his works.
A series of works by the mysterious Japanese sculptor can be seen on the art gallery's website.
