For the release books thousands and thousands of trees are destroyed every year. At the same time, the books themselves are often not needed, and year after year they accumulate in personal libraries or in the warehouses of bookstores. These old, useless editions decided return back in the forest Canadian artists Rodney LaTourelle and Thilo Folkerts.
Several centuries ago, each book was worth its weight in gold, hundreds, if not thousands of people still read it. Nowadays, a huge amount of printed matter is produced, which is read by one person or even put on the shelf until better times and is never opened again. Was it worth cutting down the forests for this?
This question was pondered by artists from the Canadian province of Quebec, Rodney LaTurelle and Tilo Folkerts, deciding to return to the forest what was taken from him. They took several hundred old books and created a very, very unusual art installation with their help.
The essence of this installation is to install several walls created from old books in the middle of the Jardin de la Connaissance forest near the city of Quebec. This was the end of the artists' work - nature entered the business.
That is, Rodney LaTurelle and Thilo Falkerts simply left these book walls in the forest in the open air, waiting for them to be swallowed up by the forest. Of course, this will take a huge amount of time. But the artists are in no hurry, because the process itself is very, very interesting.
For clarity, they showed photographs of what happened to the books left in the forest two years ago. Mosses, lichens have already formed on them, mushrooms have begun to grow. In a couple of years, shoots of trees will begin to sprout through the paper - nature will begin to absorb what was taken away from it.
