More recently, we talked about the cheerful notes drawn Novosibirsk art tandem "Too People" (Alexey Lyapunov and Lena Erlikh) … But the music-oriented creativity of our talented compatriots did not end there: they are also known for their wonderful paper sculpturesdepicting great musicians modernity - in a slightly caricatured, but very funny and original form.
Paper art is a whole creative world with its own secrets of craftsmanship, the main of which is perseverance and diligence. Usually by "paper art" they mean origami, but "simple" miniatures made with glue and scissors can be very interesting and beautiful. A peculiar move of the duo "People too" - choice of modern great musicians as an image object. These they killed two birds with one stone: looking at their favorite rock idols, the viewer gets a double positive - from the memories of their favorite masters of the guitar and microphone and from funny paper "sculptures". Of course, the artists themselves hardly thought about it: they just long and hard love music.
Sometimes paper as a material is very well superimposed on the real appearance of rock stars: for example, the great reggae man Bob Marley looks alive with paper dreadlocks - like curly Michael Jackson … For some reason, all the figures look like kind caricatures - probably because the clumsy facial features still convey character and painfully familiar features. Elvis Presley, Freddie Mercury, The Beatles …
The dynamics that permeate the paper heroes reflects the changeable and mobile spirit of song, music and dance - the elements that our singing idols lived with. The works are based on famous concert photographs of great musicians.
Using a knife, scissors, glue and tweezers Alexey Lyapunov and Lena Erlich they create not only three-dimensional images of musicians - in fact, using this proprietary technique, they "paint" offices, factories, houses, animals and people - perhaps their possibilities are limited only by fantasy, and, as you can see, it is remarkable.
