In her debut photo exhibition "Don't Look" young and contemporary artist Tatyana Medvedeva consistently explores various aspects of the inner world. personal as opposed to social.
Each of the plots demonstrates one of the highly intimate aspects of life: fantasies, resentments, sex, motherhood, suffering. Some of the images evoke associations and send the viewer back to his own memory, others are shocking, others make you think, but not one of them can leave you indifferent. Tatiana fills her works with a temperament inherent only to her. The images are filled with emotion and seem to be electrified. The characters' gestures are narrative and precise, sometimes brought to the point of grotesque. The Don't Look project is a deliberate outrageous and at the same time striving for utmost honesty.
In her work on the exhibition, Tatiana used the principle of "direct photography", which conveys the direct contact of the photographer and his camera with reality. The images generated by the artist's consciousness become the basis for a small performance taking place in the bathroom. The only participant in this production is the hero of the plot, and the only spectator is the camera. According to the author himself, the shooting lasted for several hours so that the hero could abstract himself and stop noticing the photographer and the camera. This creative method makes the photographs of the series seem to reflect a real situation, and at the same time are perceived as a visual allegory that encourages introspection.
