Whatever you say, a famous Russian architect to play games Yuri Avvakumov very, very fond of. Not computer games, no, but dominoes and chess, towns and cards. And having played enough, it turns materials for games into … building materials. Thus, exhibitions of Avvakumov's extraordinary architectural projects, built from dominoes and playing cards, were repeatedly demonstrated not only in cities of the Russian Federation, but also far abroad. In the 1980s, Avvakumov was called a "paper architect" for his extraordinary projects. But now the 21st century is in the yard, and this glory is alive to this day. Yuri Avvakumov is proud of this and never ceases to maintain his image. So, in 2008 at the Architecture Biennale in Venice, he presented his project "Maternity", which was a mausoleum of dominoes, built against the backdrop of the Roddom of corrugated cardboard. Not to mention the projects of past years, which are still admired by both the master's colleagues and admirers of his work.
In 2007, Yuri Avvakumov turned 50, and for his anniversary a large exposition was held in the Stella Art Foundation gallery, which the hero of the day independently collected all of the same cards and dominoes. Among the most famous projects is a domino skyscraper and a tower of card queens.
It is known that Yuri Avvakumov is not engaged in "real" construction, remaining devoted to "toy" architecture. However, there is information that they plan to involve him in the construction of a pavilion in Abu Dhabi, and he is also preparing a project for an unusual bar made of marble dominoes.
