American Mia Pearlman (Mia Pearlman) is one of the large group of artists who have chosen plain paper as the basis for creativity. But with his large-scale installations, the author proves to us that the possibilities of this material are truly endless!
“I create paper installations and ephemeral drawings that blur the boundaries between real, illusory and imaginary space. Sculpted and often filled with natural or artificial light, these imaginary weather systems seem to freeze at any moment, explode through walls and windows, or soar above the room,”says Mia Perlman.
Mia describes her creative process as intuitive, based on spontaneous decisions that arise at one time or another. She first draws ink sketches on large sheets of paper, then cuts out individual areas between the lines. 30-80 of these sheets form the final installation, which Mia creates on the spot through trial and error, describing the process as "a two- or three-day dance between randomness and control."
The life of Mia Perlman's works is short: they exist only as long as the exhibition lasts. It is not possible to disassemble, transport and assemble these installations anew. To some, this will seem meaningless, but Mia does not think so at all: "This is my vision of the creation, destruction and short-term nature of our reality."
As a source of inspiration, Mia demonstrates the amazing beauty of nature photography: here are icebergs, and the starry sky, and clouds, and the northern lights … It is not surprising that the author gives many of his sculptural works the names of certain natural phenomena: "Whirlwind", "Tornado", "Whirlpool", "Clouds".
Mia Perlman lives and works in New York, but her work is well known outside the United States. Exhibitions of the author's works are held in the Netherlands, Switzerland, Great Britain.

And in antiquity in Russia, each of these phenomena had its own special, sometimes very ambiguous, explanation. The beliefs of that time, considered today superstitions, greatly influenced the life of every person, regulating his daily routine. There was practically no doubt about their truth
