Adults who do not have children of preschool or primary school age have probably already forgotten the last time they held colored paper and scissors in their hands. After all, the application, as a rule, is an activity for kids in the lessons of fine art or labor, what should adults do with this good? Well, at least what the American designer Michael Velliquette makes.
His works are childishly naive, but maturely serious and talented. From colored paper, the designer creates mythical characters, ritual masks, faces of gods and outlandish creatures.
All his works are colorful, multi-layered and very neatly worked out, down to the tiniest flower, to the most imperceptible fold at first glance. First of all, by the way, the author tries for those visitors to his exhibitions who come with children, because children are our future, and if we do not be a quality example for them, what future awaits them and us in this case? And a quality example is also high-quality works of art, what you want to hold your gaze on and say "wow!"
How much "wow" the characters from colored paper are obtained from Michael Velliquette is decided by the contemplators, that is, you and I. What will you say, I cannot predict, but the numerous sold-out shows, which over and over again collect exhibitions and installations of the designer, are already talking about something.

Multicolored taxis on the streets of Bangkok
Yellow taxis have long become a "calling card" of New York, and without black taxis it is difficult to imagine the streets of London. Few people know that in Bangkok "on call" cars are also easy to distinguish from the general flow of cars. True, the Thai people (unlike the Americans and the British) prefer a variety of colors, so here cars are painted in all the colors of the rainbow. Pink, orange, purple, green and yellow cars scurry around the city, delivering customers
The multicolored surreal positive of the artist Vadim Ryakhovsky
The paintings of the Tatar artist Vadim Ryakhovsky from Nizhnekamsk can be used as color therapy: they are so bright, colorful and positive. And despite the fact that the characters of his works will not be nice and cute to everyone, one should not forget that "on the face of the terrible - kind inside." And the kindness and friendliness of all these multi-colored monsters and other creatures invented by the Tatar schedule, it is simply impossible to doubt
Multicolored spider web: openwork weaving by Akiko Ikeuchi
Looking at the openwork weaving of fine silk threads, made by the Japanese craftswoman Akiko Ikeuchi, one involuntarily recalls the myth of Arachne, a needlewoman who competed with the goddess Athena herself. Modern morality to the ancient legend is this: it is not necessary to feel the wrath of the gods in order to create beautiful cobweb installations
