To create original acoustic compositions, Italian Diego Stocco does not need traditional musical instruments: in his hands anything can turn into an instrument! The talented composer extracts unique sounds from sand, trees or even an ordinary stapler and creates original and innovative compositions.
In his experiments with sound, Diego attaches highly sensitive microphones to his fingers, which record sounds and transmit them to a computer. Anything can act as sound sources. For example, in the project "Music from a Tree" the author rustled with the leaves of a tree, knocked on the trunk, and drove along the branches with a bow. In the composition “Music from Sand” Diego performed various manipulations with sand: he poured it over, drove it with sticks … In general, if the author just wants it, the slightest noise becomes an element of his musical composition.
The sounds that Diego Stocco receives remain in his melodies in their original form, that is, they are not transformed with the help of equipment. The only tool that helps the author to achieve the best sound quality is a conventional medical phonendoscope. On the video you can see the process of creating melodies and listen to the result.
Diego Stocco became interested in music at the age of six, when his parents gave him the first electronic keyboard. Since then, the composer has not abandoned experiments with sound, finding more and more new sources of music. However, the author himself does not call himself a composer, believing that the definition of "sound designer" more accurately characterizes his activities.
