The trumpets and drums fell silent, the orchestra fell silent, the voices of all the singers, lovers and brawlers fell silent, and even the dogs stopped barking and only sniffled in surprise, sticking out their tongues. Is it really the end of the world, or has the next leader of the world proletariat died? No it's new flash mob from Improv Everywherewhich makes it possible turn off the sound the whole planet and listen to the silence.
Founder and inspirer of the flash mob group Improv Everywhere, incurable theater and merry fellow Charlie Todd, admits: the idea of a flash mob with a button Mute (" turn off the sound") came to his mind a long time ago. While working on such sensational actions as freezing people at the main station in New York (looks like a" pause "button) and slowing down time in a supermarket (like a slow rewind button), he decided, that it would be nice to make a flash mob on the contrast between the noise of the street and, if possible, complete silence.
But even then it was clear to him that for the success of the flash mob it was necessary to emphasize street sounds, creating harmony out of them. Conceived - done. A couple of debaters, a couple of brawlers, a mother mentoring a little daughter, an inspired jazzman with a saxophone, barking dogs and the nail of the act - black break dancers; noise more than enough. But Charlie Todd takes off his glasses and presses " turn off the sound"And … Nothing has changed - everyone continues to do the same as before. Only without sound, except for the quiet shuffling of dancers' soles on the asphalt.
Of course, all the noisy ones were Improv Everywhere agents. It was especially difficult with the dogs - it took a lot of time to find the perfectly trained ones. Think: one weak bark could disrupt everything! But from the video it is clear that everything went like clockwork. Passers-by, not privy to the mobber conspiracy, froze in surprise; however, now very many people know about flash mobs, and therefore after a few seconds everyone smiled. Silently.
The most amazing thing about this flash mob is that ordinary people instinctively supported it. Probably, when modern inhabitants of megalopolises feel that they lack something in life, but cannot articulate what exactly - they lack silence. Of course the message flash mob " Turn off the sound"not as visual and understandable as an unusual presentation - exposure of addiction to social networks, but nevertheless the action makes one think.
