Have you ever improvised with a dish in the kitchen, trying to serve it in some way prettier and surprise your household? Heart-shaped scrambled eggs, spaghetti volcano, tomato halves fly agarics? Romanian artist Dan Cretu makes absolutely every food that he comes across as an object of creativity.
His imagination often turns the most basic food, such as fruits, vegetables, seeds, and even salami slices, into exquisite pieces of art.
To feel a surge of inspiration, Dan just need to go to the nearest grocery store, or even just look into his own refrigerator.
The artist himself speaks of his work as follows:
And it’s not so easy, given the stereotypes that have lodged inside us. Plus, food has a short shelf life, so the author has to work quickly before the working "material" dries up, turns sour, or changes color.
Cretu often has to compose literally on the go, adding some supernatural constructions of everyday objects from food.
His masterpieces are recognizable objects made from unusual things: a bicycle made of oranges, a box of matches made from zucchini zucchini, an edible transistor radio, and even a camera made of citrus fruits - all of which look so tempting that you want to immediately absorb it. But the installations of Wenda Gu (Wenda Gu) from strands of hair have only to admire with admiration.
