At first glance, it seems that today you will not surprise anyone with wooden figures. But Sergei Bobkov undoubtedly succeeded. An artist and artisan from Russia (Balakhtinsky district) proposed an unusual creative solution, in the implementation of which he became a real expert. It's about creating gorgeous animal figurines from wood shavings.
Sergey Bobkov uses ordinary shavings, giving them the desired shape, grinding and twisting. The result is organic details that mimic feathers or fur. The artist claims that almost any wood can be used in his work, but personally he prefers to work with Siberian cedar shavings.
Work takes up a lot of Sergey Bobkov's time. For example, an artist spends 4 to 6 months of work on one large bird or animal, provided that he will work from 14 to 18 hours a day. Bobkov says that he decided to create a collection of animals from shavings after he created a life-size bird as an experiment, and he succeeded in the craft.
It takes Tom Eckert just as much, if not more, time to grind hyperrealistic sculptures out of wood. And they look more real. But each direction in art has the right to be realized and to its fans. We are sure that there will be those for the work of Sergei Bobkov.
