No matter how many centuries pass, the geniuses of the Renaissance remain a reliable reference point in the world of art for modern sculptors. Perhaps one of the most popular is Michelangelo's David, which inspires dozens of replicas. But talented sculptor Caspar Berger decided not just to imitate the master, but to bring a piece of himself into the legendary statue. So a bronze bust was born, which received the name "David. Self-portrait 11 ".
It is not difficult to guess why Kasper Berger called his creation a self-portrait: the bust is literally dotted with a dozen "faces" of the author himself. Of course, such a view of a classic work of art is quite daring: the modern sculptor did not hesitate to "attribute" his name to the glory of the genius of the Renaissance. David's "skin" forms "folds" that, upon closer inspection, look like Kasper's mini-faces.
Kasper Berger's intention remains a mystery: whether he was guided by the desire to make himself a part of art, or, on the contrary, wanted to show that art is an inseparable part of his essence. Whatever the correct answer, it cannot be denied that the sculptor's creative experiment was a success.
