Modern archaeologists can restore the appearance of a deceased person with amazing accuracy from his skull … But, according to the Romanian artist Istvan Laszlo, some skulls can be identified without scientific methods. A series of his works with the title The Anatomy of Skulls.
We recently talked about the constructor Mr. Dicator Head, which allows you to create dictators from a standard set of elements. The central part of this unusual toy is a universal skull on which you can string unique pieces. But the artist, originally from Romania, Istvan Laszlo, in his work claims that the differences between great people are already visible at the level of the skull.
In a series of his graphic works The Anatomy of Skulls, Istvan Laszlo shows the audience a series of skulls, each of which is a great person: a politician, musician, public figure, artist, etc. This is achieved by giving these skulls the unique characteristics of the people they allude to.
For example, in the skull of Hitler his famous bangs and antennae are easily guessed, in Lenin's skull there are sunken eye sockets and a swollen upper part, Mao's skull has a special thickening, reminiscent of the Great Helmsman's hairstyle after he began to go bald.
Each of Istvan Laszlo's graphic works is supplemented with textual information, which scientifically explains all the "outstanding" features of the skulls of famous people to whom they supposedly belong.
