Do you think that giant monkeys only live in fairy tales, science fiction films and psychedelic dreams in opiate abusers? This means that you are not yet familiar with Florentijn Hofman's new installation called Fat Monkey. But you had the honor to meet Hoffman himself in one of our publications - after all, he believes that size matters, and therefore all his projects are exceptionally large-caliber.
So from a huge rubber duck on the waves of the Loire - to a huge fat monkey lying in a public park in the Brazilian city of São Paulo. It was here that a conference called Pixelshow took place, within the framework of which Florentin Hoffmann created his amazing installation.
Moreover, the work is amazing not only for its monstrous size. The fact is that the monkey, from the tips of the ears to the tip of the tail, is made of … 10 thousand rubber flip flops of different colors and sizes. Of course, the author alone would not have coped with his project, so he brought in local students and fellow designers to help him.
Why flip flops? So after all, they personify pixels and clearly demonstrate how many thousands of small pixels can turn into one large work of art. By the way, you can see how it was born in this video. And all other projects of the author are on his personal website.

Installations by Florentin Hoffmann: Size Matters
Dutchman Florentijn Hofman believes that the bigger the objects, the better they are. If the thing is in its normal size, that's fine, but much more interesting if it is huge. Maybe the installations by Florentin Hoffmann do not pretend to be in line with the masterpieces of world art, but they, without a doubt, cause surprise, a smile and make the world at least a little more fun
