In order to draw a picture, a box of pencils is enough for an artist. To the sculptor Jennifer Maestre it takes many times more pencils for your creativity. Three boxes, five, eight … Or even fifteen, depending on the scale and complexity of the work. Yes, the girl creates her sculptures using dozens and even hundreds of sharpened pencils of various colors and shades. This passion came to her when the future graduate of Mass College of Art was preparing for her thesis. She wanted to death to have an original box for her jewelry: silver, in the shape of a hedgehog. But since she had nothing to do with precious or just metals, she had to use materials at hand. Colored pencils came to hand …
Since then, the pencils in the hands of Jennifer Maestre have been transformed into thorny sculptures: flowers or outlandish animals, fantastic characters, or simply incomprehensible, but very original figures in which everyone can see what they want.
