As a sign of mourning for your deceased spouse, you can put on a hair shirt, or you can put on a more modern, but no less uncomfortable outfit, in which you have to sit on pins and needles. Designer Susie McMurray has come up with a symbolic dress made of pins. The model is called “Widow”. She embodies the acute pain of losing a loved one. There is one more meaning of an unusual outfit made of pins: a woman in mourning can close herself up, lift the needles upright, like a hedgehog, and keep no one close to her soul.
To create an unusual outfit, Susie MacMurray spent about one hundred thousand pins, which she stuck into a leather blank. In total, the armor weighs over 43 kilos. Until January 2, the dress made of pins can be seen in London, at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
