What do you think about coffee? An incomparable hot drink that fills us with cheerfulness in the morning, the aroma of which makes us wake up, and not just get out of bed? Yes, and yes again! But besides this, coffee can be, it turns out, a material for creativity. Nuria Salcedo is a self-taught artist who uses coffee to create extraordinarily beautiful illustrations and portraits of celebrities.
Nuria Salcedo is an architect by training and an artist at the call of her heart, never took art lessons. Drawing was her hobby. She started out with traditional ways of painting. I was looking for something special for a long time, I experimented. “Everything I have learned is the result of hard work, watching training videos, practice, trial and error,” says the artist. Inspiration came to her when she came across similar works by another artist, Maria A. Aristide, on the Internet.
“At that moment I needed something that would set me apart from other artists. I was not experienced enough in traditional painting techniques, so I decided to try it with coffee,”Nuria said in an interview with a well-known magazine. “I've always enjoyed being creative, and coffee has given me many new opportunities. I fell in love with him after finishing my first job. I myself rarely drink coffee, but how nice it is to wake up to its aroma, because it means that my favorite thing is waiting for me. I think it will take me a very long time to become a great artist, without professional training behind me, but with faith, passion and coffee - I hope to one day reach a high level."
She uses a brown pencil to detail the most difficult parts of her work. The artist calls herself a perfectionist, she can draw small details for hours until she reaches perfection. Nuria uses only coffee to shade and color her drawings. She achieves the transition of shades by overlaying several layers of coffee. A distinctive feature of Nuria Salcedo's works are Indian motifs and flowers as an element of decor. In one form or another, they are present in every picture of the artist. Nuria Salcedo got serious about drawing coffee about four years ago. At first she just copied the paintings, but later she became interested in a more creative process. Today, the artist creates original works that claim to be real works of art.
A new picture starts with a new idea. Nuria spends many hours in search of reference images that would "catch" the viewer's attention. She looks through the selected photographs for a long time, taking them as a basis or drawing inspiration from them for a future drawing. Some of Nuria Salcedo's more impressive work includes portraits of Hollywood celebrities such as Jared Leto, for example.
The artist with the education of an architect, being from a small Spanish town, has already achieved a lot. And while she has yet to reach the limits of her artistic talent, she admits that her art has come a long way over the years. Nuria is not going to stop there and rest on her laurels, she is improving her skills every day. If you are interested in painting, read another on this topic. our article. Based on materials
