The author's idea is simple and at the same time unusual. He uses cubes of refined sugar as building bricks, and "builds" from them replicas of architectural structures or his own buildings. The cubes are held together with glue, one sculpture takes thousands of pieces of sugar, and the laborious process of creating one architectural object can take more than one month.
As a child, Brendan was fond of building buildings from the Lego set, and as an adult, he did not abandon this venture, but found a more suitable material for its implementation. After all, sugar, unlike the details of the constructor, can be given any shape you want. sawing it in the right places. In addition, according to the author, sugar crystals sparkle beautifully under the rays of light.
Jamison's sculptures now include copies of such structures as the Helen Tower in Bangor (Northern Ireland) and the Reichstag dome (Berlin, Germany).
As already noted, in addition to copies of existing structures, the author creates his own designs of buildings. For example, Sugar Walk is an architectural model of an apartment building that is planned to be built in Belfast in 2011. It took Brendan Jamison 11,265 sugar cubes and 2 months of work to create this model! However, this is not the author's largest sculpture. A few years earlier, the sculptor had created a tower of 19,342 pieces of refined sugar.
Brendan Jamison is a thirty-year-old sculptor from Belfast (Northern Ireland), quite famous and popular in his homeland.
