Brendan's unstoppable sculptures were inspired by the idea of transformation and intercultural change and interpretation. “It's like I'm playing, watching how the story is malleable and how it actually changes. We think that history refers to those things that remain static, but this is not the case,”says the sculptor. Indeed, immobility is not a word that can be used to describe the author's works. His works plunge you into confusion: the viewer does not understand what he sees in front of him, but at the same time finds these works insanely attractive.
In the Manga Ormolu series, Brendan Lee Tang reveals the relationship between contemporary culture, technology and globalization through the creation of a relationship between the porcelain tradition and techno-pop art. Be that as it may, the sculptor asks not to take his work too seriously. According to Brendan, futuristic jewelry can be expressive, sublime, even funny. He says: “This is a rough reflection of our human need to present and translate fantastic ideas into reality; in fact, the desire for transcendence is a trait that unites the history of all mankind. These characteristics are reflected in such an unassuming, albeit very malleable material like clay. "Manga Ormolu" through its content, form and material clearly demonstrates the conflicting and complementary forces that shape our perception of Self and Others."
Brendan Lee Tung was born in Dublin (Ireland). The sculptor has Trinidadian roots, is a Canadian citizen and lives in British Columbia (province of Canada).
