At the exhibitions of the Italian artist Roberto Bernardi it is strictly forbidden to go to those who are on a diet, or did not have time to dine on time. After all, what is depicted on the canvases of this author can cause profuse salivation and an irresistible desire to buy and eat a box … no, a kilogram of sweets, a couple of chocolates and a handful of marmalade to boot. The fact is that Roberto Bernardi is famous for his hyperrealistic paintings, and his favorite subject is still lifes of sweets and other goodies. "And these are pictures?", The uninitiated viewer will utter perplexedly, and there will be nothing to reproach him with. Indeed, at first glance, it may seem that these are the most ordinary photographs, the work of food stylists and photo artists that we can see in all glossy magazines and good quality cookbooks. However, both on the second and on the third glance, Bernardi's work is indistinguishable from photographs. But you have to take their word for it, as well as what is written next to the paintings of the Italian artist: he draws only with paints, preferring oil paints.
A talented hyperrealist, Roberto Bernardi has been friends with brushes and paints from a young age. His first paintings date back to the first half of the 80s, when he was still a schoolboy, but these were traditional landscapes and portraits. The artist began to "take pictures with paints" at a more mature age, discovering that this not only helps him to grow professionally, honing the painting technique, but also brings much more pleasure, and looks more spectacular. Moreover, when it comes to such attractive subjects as mountains of sweets, fruits and other mouth-watering delicacies, from which it is very difficult to take your eyes off.
The artist conveys every detail of still lifes with amazing accuracy, carefully drawing grains of sugar on marmalade, folds on the cellophane wrapper of candies, light reflections on the glossy surface of the table or dishes. This process for him is something like a kind of meditation, the result of which is not only satisfied with himself, but also numerous fans of his hyperrealistic creativity. Other amazing paintings by Roberto Bernardi can be found on his website.
