Surrealism in photography is a very widespread and interesting thing, because thanks to it we can not only admire the photo, but also think about the meaning. Winner of 75 different photo awards Rodney Smith makes either such a sur, which you want to admire, or just great photos with different subjects.
Originating in the early 20th century, surrealism is still highly regarded and used by artists and photographers. For example, one of the most important representatives of American surrealism, Sandy Skogland, and her photographic work on the verge of madness. But her work seems pretty tough. Rodney Smith is much more kind to the viewer in this - his plots are much more friendly, some are even adorable. For example, a lady sitting on a wardrobe in a park with a book in her hands, or a funny guy in a hat in a boat on a snow-covered lake.
Rodney Smith graduated from Yale University, Connecticut in 1975. He got the opportunity to live for three months in Jerusalem. The photographs he took there, poured out the book "Land of the World", after the publication of which Rodney received offers from a number of prestigious universities, from Goethe University in Germany to Harvard, to become their teacher. However, Rodney Smith declined all invitations. He begins to travel the world: he rides trains in India, walks around Paris and many other places. He later returns to his university and becomes an associate professor there.
Today Rodney is a world-renowned photographer with a broad outlook and a wealth of knowledge. He has about 75 most prestigious awards. His work is presented in galleries in a huge number of countries.
Far from the weight of Rodney's work is surrealism. He has quite a lot of simply beautiful portraits that you love to look at, because they are brilliantly made. There is a fine line that separates a good photographer from a talent. In my subjective opinion, Rodney Smith is living evidence of how you need to work to be on the other side of the line. Among the photographers, perhaps only Donata Wenders was also convincing to me. When it's not so important what is special about the photographer, but you understand: these are just great photos.
