Traditionally, autumn is considered a time of harvest, but what if nothing has grown in your garden? The answer can be found in the work of glassblowers Michael Cohn and Molly Stone, who did not lose heart and instead decorated their garden with glass vegetables.
It all started in 1991, which was marked by a very cold and foggy summer. The pumpkins, carefully planted by Molly, did not disfigure, and she so wanted to see bright orange fruits in her garden. Then she went to the workshop, where she began to correct the situation in her own way, together with Michael Cohn. It is not difficult to predict how it all ended: glass blowers, of course, decided to make their own pumpkins from glass.
“We took the pumpkins outside and laid them out among the leaves, combining translucent glass with nature - it turned out just charming,” says Michael. The experiment with glass pumpkins was so successful that the authors continued to make them in the future, complicating natural colors and shapes to create unique works of art.
“Glass is like a living, moving thing, so the process of working with it is like a dance,” says Michael Cohn. "And the end result can be called a recording of frozen dance moves." Such a comparison can be heard only from the lips of a person who truly loves his job. Molly Stone does not lag behind him: "Gardening and glassblowing are my most passionate hobbies, and this activity (making glass vegetables) allows me to combine them." According to the author, when she was planning the garden, she planted mostly deciduous plants, so the glass fruits brightened the place incredibly.
Michael Cohn and Molly Stone's studio is located in Richmond, California, USA. The authors have been collaborating since 1980 to create designer vases and decorative artwork. Their works are in various museum and private collections in the USA, Canada, Japan, Australia, Europe, South America.

The Czech Republic is famous not only for beer and medieval wars, but also for its magic glass, heavenly origin with the Vltavin stone and a special depth of color with pomegranate. Indeed, this is a country in which there is something to build crystal castles - but the material on them is still being sold for souvenirs, without even thinking that there will not be enough stones that have fallen from the sky forever and the miracle will one day end
Glass knitting. Art-glass by Erwin Timmers
Looking at the abundance of knitted works of art, it seems that the designers, as one, suddenly remembered that they were once taught to knit, and began to revive their former skills. The artist discussed in this article, Erwin Timmers, is also into knitting, but in a specific way. He is called a "glass designer" because he knows how to get amazing things out of this complex, naughty and very fragile material. Accordingly, he has the same knitting
Bohemian glass engraving. Glass art by Heather Gillespie
Glass is like honey: if you melt it, it will be just as transparent and thick, viscous and malleable. Probably, this association became one of the reasons why the British artist Heather Gillespie prefers to work with glass, and she chose the appropriate specialization at the local university - an engraver on glass, and not on any glass, but on the famous Bohemian
Houses made of stone and in stone. The stunning city of Monsanto
Houses made of stone - barely hewn, preserving the natural harmony of a piece of rock - will never become obsolete. And although they cost many times more than those built using modern technologies, there are still people who are ready to pay for a real style with money or labor. And the most unusual and picturesque houses made of stone are in the Portuguese town of Monsanto: for hundreds of years local residents have attached their houses to huge boulders, and as a result, they have created a real harmony of stone
